The EU–India trade deal and its impact on European manufacturing

The new EU–India trade agreement is officially framed as a strategic milestone to strengthen global trade relations. However, for many European companies operating as a technical textile manufacturer Europe or a made-to-order textile manufacturer, the reality is far more complex.

European businesses involved in custom industrial textile production, flexible industrial sewing, and textile manufacturing for logistics must comply with strict environmental, labor, and safety regulations. This is particularly critical in sectors such as medical insulated bag manufacturing, technical medical textile production, and military textile manufacturing Europe.

Indian producers, by contrast, benefit from significantly lower compliance costs while gaining access to the European market. This creates structural distortion in areas like industrial cover manufacturing Europe, custom logistic covers, and OEM textile factories, where price competitiveness is decisive.

Without effective mirror clauses, the agreement risks accelerating industrial outsourcing, undermining Europe’s goal of maintaining a strong B2B textile manufacturing Europe ecosystem and preserving high-quality industrial employment.
